Having a clean home isn’t something that comes naturally to most people, yet we all enjoy walking through the door of a clean house. With most families having both parents working, having one parent stay home and be a homemaker isn’t realistic.

So how are these people keeping tidy homes ALL THE TIME?

Simple! People with clean homes have incorporated a set of habits into their routines, making cleaning the house less of a chore.

Make the Bed

It doesn't take too long to straighten out your comforter. Starting your day by making your bed is an easy task that will set you up for a successful day. When you begin your day with a sense of productivity and order, it’s likely to carry through to everything else you do.

Tidy Up as You Go

Put your clothes away as you get dressed, and try on two or three outfits. Do the dishes and put away ingredients as you are cooking. Incorporate this mentality into everything you do, and there will be less to clean up at the end of the day.

Wipe Down Surfaces

Before you walk away, give the surface a quick wipe. You can keep small packs of cleaning wipes in each bathroom to make this job easier!

Tackle Laundry Each Day

If you do at least one load of laundry every day, you can avoid overflowing hampers. Don’t let it pile up and ruin your weekend.

Categorize Paper

Piles of paper snowball. Keep your office and counters clutter-free by having a set place for papers. Create folders for bills, school memos, and other items. Put them in the correct spot immediately.

Purge Regularly

How many water bottles do you think your family needs? If you have growing children, they are growing out of their clothes. Keeping your home clean and organized is more manageable with fewer items. Purge, donate and get rid of things you don’t use.

Clean Your Fridge Weekly

Before you do your weekly groceries, you should clean out any expired or unwanted foods. This will also help you create an accurate list of what you need before going to the store.

Clean Up After Cooking

The longer you leave a dirty dish waiting, the harder it is to clean. Loading the dishwasher right after you eat will make a big difference in keeping your kitchen clean.

Straighten Before Bedtime

Before you head off to bed, walk through the most used rooms in your house and put away anything that doesn’t belong. Tuck away any toys, shoes, or blankets, and make sure backpacks and bags are ready for the next day.
Keeping your house clean will be much easier if you can start incorporating these habits into your daily life.
